Natalie Levin Workshop: Memorial Day Practice
Mon, May 29, 2017 at 9:30 am - 11:00 am
It is a wild time to be a human being on Planet Earth! One way to ride the waves of turbulence coming our ways over and over is to come together with others to engage in the revolutionary practice of yoga. Perhaps you will be called to come and be with us for one and a half hours on Memorial Day and move your body so that it continues to be used to "going with the flow." You will hear about the current astrological transits and we will sit together in meditation in addition to moving our bodies. You will also be vibrated by live opera and, if you are interested, you will be doused with glitter! This practice is for all levels. Expect vinyasa, pranayama, meditation, live opera singing, and glitter!
Yoga for Recovery: Through the Ayurvedic Lens
Next held on Sat, Jun 3, 2017 at 12:00 pm - 6:30 pm
This enrollment runs from Sat Jun 3, 2017 - Sat Oct 7, 2017
This four-part series with Blakey Elkhart, RYT 500, will illuminate the ways in which Ayurveda & Yoga breathe life into the practical spirituality of the 12 steps and recovery from addiction.
Each session will include foundational concepts of Ayurveda and exploration of how these tools apply to recovery. We will explore the spiritual principles contained within the steps and how these principles can be cultivated through movement, breath and meditation.
Ayurveda: Life Science, the practice through which Yoga (Asana, Pranayama, Meditation) are prescribed as medicine for the whole being. Ayurveda is the vedic science of healing for the body and mind, placing the potential of a fully embodied life within the power of each individual.
Part One - June 3 Steps 1-3 What is health? Why are we here?
The first 3 steps ask us to accept who we are in this moment. This Acceptance bears hope, willingness and courage, if we surrender to the process of recovery.
According to Ayurveda, we have all that we need to live our fullest, most authentic life. Dis-ease arises from misplacement and a shift away from center. Just as the 12 steps offers practical tools to live a life free from active addiction, Ayurveda offers tools to work with our true nature; bringing us back to center.
Part one of this four-part series will cover the basics of the doshas (our inherent nature), and how to use Yoga and the 12 steps to bring our entire being back to center, so that we can discover our heart’s desire and learn to live with purpose.
Part Two - July 8 Steps 4-6 Who are we? How can we satisfy the desires of the soul?
Part Three - September 9 Steps 7-9 Creating regular practice Becoming Current
Part Four Steps 10-12 Maintenance and Freedom
This series is appropriate for:
-professionals in the addiction treatment field who wish gain knowledge of a holistic lifestyle & spiritual path for clients.
-yogis looking to deepen their understanding of Ayurveda and the 12 steps
-people recovering from addiction or affected by the addiction of another seeking a holistic lifestyle.
Dates: Saturday June 3, July 8, September 9 and October 7
Times: 12-6:30pm with a half hour break
Where: tAra Yoga Chestnut Hill
Investment: $99 per session; or $289 for all four sessions
Due to the intimate nature of the topics and that the final three sessions will build on the first session, we discourage students from missing the first session or more than one session.
Summer Solstice & Self Care: A Yoga Workshop
Sun, Jun 25, 2017 at 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Summer Solstice. The longest day of the year – that is, the longest experience of Daylight – and the marked beginning of a new season. What else comes out of the Solstice? Might we can tap into the rich cycles of Mother Nature, so that we begin to align the rich cycles of ourselves? Perhaps we can cultivate a deeper awareness of that which does not serve us, release, and then focus on the energies and experiences that sustain? In this workshop – designed for anyone who is looking to amplify their Self-Care practices – you can do just that.
Carly invites you to join her on Sunday, June 25th, for a yoga workshop created for setting such intentions. By way of yogic philosophy and practices (such as asana, breathwork, chanting), and the art of free-write journaling, Carly wants to support your exploration of this courageous ‘burning up’ (also known as tapas) to free up space for future goals. During the afternoon, Carly will lead you through some guided meditation and yoga sequencing, including a longer-than-usual Savasana, conceived with the purpose of restoration and rebirth – akin to the power of our preceding Summer Solstice on June 21st.
No experience is required – come exactly as you are. Whether or not you are new to yoga on the mat, Carly will be fully present for your journey as instructor. Her main goal is to highlight opportunities in your daily living off of the mat, where you can continue this ritual of deliberate self-care and personal enrichment.
Please feel free to bring your favorite notebook and/or writing utensils, though paper and pens will be provided.
